On 18th July 2026, I had the privilege of attending Yoga Shastra Sangamam 2026 in Bengaluru, an international yoga conference themed "Uniting the World Through Yoga, Wisdom and Well-being." The event was organized by Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari (Karnataka Prant) in collaboration with NMKRV College and the Indian Yoga Association.
The conference brought together yoga practitioners, researchers, teachers, and seekers from diverse backgrounds. The sessions included insightful paper presentations, thought-provoking panel discussions, and practical yoga abhyasa, all inspired by the teachings and vision of Swami Vivekananda.
For me, this was much more than a conference. It was a memorable experience that deepened my understanding of yoga as both a science and a way of life.
A scientific approach to pranayama
One of the highlights of the day was experiencing the scientific approach to pranayama presented by Dr. Devaki Madhav. Her session beautifully connected traditional yogic wisdom with scientific understanding, offering valuable insights into how conscious breathing influences our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Meeting fellow sadhakas
Another enriching aspect of the event was meeting many dedicated yoga sadhakas and experienced yoga teachers. Each interaction reflected years of sincere practice, learning, and service. Listening to their experiences and exchanging ideas reinforced the fact that yoga is a lifelong journey of continuous growth and self-discovery.

One shared purpose
What I appreciated most was the spirit of the gathering. Despite participants coming from different schools and traditions of yoga, everyone shared a common purpose: promoting health, harmony, and inner transformation through authentic yogic practices.
I returned from Yoga Shastra Sangamam 2026 with renewed inspiration, fresh perspectives, and a deeper appreciation for the richness of India's yogic heritage. Events like these remind us that yoga is not merely a physical practice but a complete system for cultivating balance, wisdom, and well-being.
I extend my sincere gratitude to the organizers, speakers, and fellow participants for making this conference a truly enriching experience. I look forward to applying these learnings in my own practice and sharing them with others on the path of yoga.
Yoga is a journey of continuous learning, and Yoga Shastra Sangamam 2026 was a beautiful milestone on that journey.
